What key words best describe your hope for the future?

Farmer-veterans, nature, Spirit

Describe what are you working on in the field of climate change, environmental protection, environmental justice or social impact.

The United Nations 2008 and 2012 reports on food, trade and the environment all came to the same conclusion, Only a system of small agro-ecological farms can provide sustainable agriculture for the future. Hundreds of studies in dozens of countries all agree. We can address climate change most quickly through healthy soil and crop diversity, which will pull the carbon out of the air and back into the earth where it belongs.

Ground Operations champions combat veterans who are transitioning from the military and into regenerative agriculture: organic/biodynamic farming, pastured livestock ranchers, urban hydroponic growers, permaculturists, beekeepers and mead makers. Veterans are repurposing their own lives, replenishing their local foodsheds' soils and crop diversity, protecting pollinator and environmental habitats. They are strengthening America's food security, one farm at a time,

Ground Operations is both an award-winning documentary film and a social action campaign. We use our film as a catalyst to gather communities together, to meet their local farrmer-veterans, and to create regional networks that support veterans in regenerative agriculture.

How might other W&E conference attendees be able to support your work, goals or objectives?

Give it to a veteran or veteran center. Ask your community library and college library to license the Ground Operations DVD & resource guide for their collection. Connect me with someone you know that can further this work.

What are you able and willing to contribute to other attendees at the conference to support their work, goals or objectives?

To look at their mission, materials and social media and understand what their work entails.. To talk them up when appropriate with my constituencies and to help network them with people and organizations I think could benefit them.
