What key words best describe your hope for the future?

Collaboration across sectors, greater inclusion and diversity of perspectives, creating more opportunity for future generations, local leadership and action that drives a local and national agenda.

Describe what are you working on in the field of climate change, environmental protection, environmental justice or social impact.

My work focuses on development of initiatives and community change efforts to support resiliency. I developed the LEAF initiative at the Santa Barbara Foundation to advance regional strategies for land conservation, protection of ecosystems, and support of agriculture and food systems in Santa Barbara County, including the development of a countywide Food Action Plan and Conservation Blueprint with community partners. I have dedicated the bulk of my career and personal passion to environmental protection. Having worked in philanthropy and the non-profit sector in Santa Barbara County for over 30 years, I am a strong believer that vision and change is driven by the local grassroots leadership of individuals and non-profits.

How might other W&E conference attendees be able to support your work, goals or objectives?

I’m seeking new ways of approaching environmental protection, climate change, and human well-being, and models that I can apply to collaboratively address these issues of our time. The collective wisdom of the conference attendees will both inspire and give me new ideas and tools to work with.

What are you able and willing to contribute to other attendees at the conference to support their work, goals or objectives?

I hope that our success and models here in Santa Barbara County will inspire others, and I am willing to share the process and experience. I also welcome opportunities to expand the work through new partnerships and collaborations.
